About:
Students throughout Northside Elementary School participated in the “Valentine’s for Vets” program originally initiated by Nassau County Executive Thomas Gulotta. The schoolwide project allowed students to design decorative cards glued with paper hearts, flowers, lace and beads. Many colored designs of balloons, American Flags, rainbows and incorporated creative drawings.
The students included kind words and poems of pride, support, gratitude and remembrances for the veterans. The cards were personally picked up by Hempstead Town Councilman Dennis Dunne and will be distributed to hospitalized servicemen and women throughout Nassau County.
